The Human Papilloma Virus vaccines – HPV is in fact a group of viruses of over 100 strains.

The papilloma viruses are among the most prevalent worldwide and are the main cause for cervical cancer among women.

Various strains of the papilloma virus may cause cancer in women and men several years following infection:

Approximately 99% of cervical cancer cases
Approximately 1,200 to 2,000 woman are diagnosed with premalignant changes of the cervix in Israel each year.
Approximately 180 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year in Israel and approximately 80 die each year of this cancer, most of them in their 30’s and 40’s.
Approximately 90% of rectal cancer cases in men and women
Approximately 60 individuals are diagnosed with rectal cancer each year Israel
Approximately 70% of oral and oropharyngeal cancer cases in men and woman
Approximately 100 individuals are diagnosed with oral and oropharyngeal cancers each year in Israel.
Approximately 65-70% of vagina and vulva cancer cases
Approximately 50% of penile cancer cases
The papilloma virus may cause additional diseases in women and in men a short while following infection:
Genital warts
Approximately 20,000 sexually active adults in Israel have warts on their genitals at any given time.
Various skin warts
Pharynx and vocal cords warts
