The Lockdown and Economic Suicide

Editorial: The idea that we must close down the economy to stop the virus is like banning automobile driving in order to eliminate car accidents. The argument hinges on the rate of contagion of the Corona Virus and how many people will ultimately die from its effects. The comparison is made with the Spanish Flu of 1919 to visualize what the devastating effects of the virus are.

However, the stark choice between death by Virus vs Economic collapse is a miscalculation and a mistake with catastrophic consequences. The articles and talks that follow by scientists and mathematicians  of vision and understanding  will clarify the choices so that government officials can then easily evaluate the proper course of action to both stop the virus in its tracks and to keep the economy running at its normal pace.

The scientific advances in microbiology and mathematical forecasting in 2020 are far beyond what was available to the societies of 1919, when they had no experience with the virus and no viable protocols for control of the virus. That is not the case today in July, 2020.

There is absolutely no rational excuse for a lock down which will lead to Ecocide, the suicidal  economic death of a society engineered by its government.  The reason for this choice is the refusal to recognize the effectiveness of Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin, two well known medicines, used for many years for other ailments without major side-effects. So why should side-effects be invoked just because the use of these drugs is directed at the Covid Virus? There is something irrational and unfathomable in this vision.

The initial goals of Dr. Vladimir Zelenko were to keep patients out of the hospital and making sure they don't die. Using a five day protocol, he cured well over 90% of his patients and kept them out of the hospital.  Thereby he prevented hospital overload at least from his patients. This performance has been repeated many times by many other physicians around the world. "What more could anybody ask for?" asked Dr. Mobeen Sayed. Why is success frowned upon and discounted because it is not part of six month or year long double blind study? Can we really wait another six months while people are dying everyday? Can we withstand a lock-down extending another six months or a year risking bankruptcy, starvation, and violence in the home?
